Our Program:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Alpine Skiing Coach to lead our program. The ideal candidate will have experience in alpine (downhill) skiing and a strong commitment to helping student-athletes develop their skills, confidence, and love for the sport. This role involves planning and leading training sessions, preparing the team for meets and competitions, and fostering a positive, inclusive environment that emphasizes teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship.
We emphasize holistic learning, viewing athletics as a crucial extension of the classroom. Our primary focus is on skill development, character building, and academic success.
Key Responsibilities:
Coaching and Instruction
•Event Specialization: Develop and implement effective training programs tailored to the skill levels of both beginner and experienced skiers.
•Skill Development: Instruct student-athletes on alpine skiing techniques, including carving, edging, racing strategies, and safety protocols.
•Conduct regular on-slope and dry land practices to build strength, agility, technique, and race readiness.
•Monitor individual and team progress, providing constructive feedback and support.
•Athlete Well-being: Promote good sportsmanship, teamwork, discipline, and a strong work ethic among all athletes.
•Communicate clearly with parents and guardians regarding schedules, team expectations, and athlete progress.
•Safety: Ensure a safe environment, strictly adhering to all school and state athletic association guidelines, Maintain strict safety standards for training and competition, including equipment checks and weather-related precautions.
Administrative and Team Support
•Direct Reporting: Report directly to Executive Director of School Operations and Athletic Programs.
•Attendance: Maintain accurate records of athlete attendance at practices and meets.
Schedule and Season Commitment
•Season Dates: December 1, 2025 through the end of February, 2026.
•Practice: 3x per week after school. On mountain practice 2x per week (weather dependent) and dry land practice 1x per week.
•Competitions: Two per week typically on Wednesdays and Saturdays or Sundays.
Qualifications and Requirements
•Previous high school coaching experience in Alpine Skiing or related winter sport is strongly preferred.
•Knowledge of alpine skiing equipment, racing rules, and training plans is beneficial.
•Must successfully complete all required background checks, fingerprinting, and state-mandated certifications prior to the start of the season.
•Current certification in First Aid and CPR is required (or must be obtained upon hire).
•Must demonstrate strong communication, organizational, and motivational skills to effectively work with high school student-athletes, parents, and school staff.
