Job DescriptionJOB TITLE:Middle School Special Education Teacher
JOB BRIEF:
- We are seeking special education teachers to lead and direct students toward the fulfillment of their potential. The special education teacher should lead, implement, and coordinate a specialized designed instructional program for students receiving special education services with the goal of increasing educational opportunities in the least restrictive environment. Opportunities for high-incidence, low-incidence, and district-level social emotional/behavioral learning programs available.
LOCATION:Eisenhower and Anthony Middle Schools
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Kansas Teaching License.
- Degree from an accredited college or university.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
- All USD 383 employees must pass a background check.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT/SALARY:
- Full time school year position.
- Based on Salary Schedule.
- 2026-2027 Salary yet to be established.
REPORTS TO: Building Principal or Director of Special Services.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develops and delivers instruction aligned with district philosophy, instructional goals, and state standards.
- Guides students in maintaining acceptable standards of classroom behavior.
- Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or students group involved.
- Develops and maintains a classroom environment conducive to effective learning withing the limits of the resources provided by the district.
- Demonstrates instructional and interpersonal strategies and techniques that are responsive to the cultural, ethnic, economic, and linguistic differences of students.
- Evaluates student progress on a continual basis and reports at designated times.
- Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
- Assists in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and Board policy.
- Makes provisions for being available to students and parents for educational purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
- Works to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning both the broad academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students.
- Cooperates with other members of staff in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
- Other duties as assigned by the administration.

- USD 383 makes monthly contributions to a 403(b)-retirement account for all certified and eligible employees.
- KPERS (Kansas Public Employees Retirement System): 6% monthly staff contribution. Vested after five years.

District provided devices - iPad, laptop and/or desktop for certified staff.
PAID COLLABORATION TIME.
FLSA STATUS: Exempt
EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated annually in accordance with the Board of Education’s policy on evaluation of certified personnel.
