Job DescriptionWestfield Public Schools is seeking qualified applicants for the following positions in the Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) program at Southampton Road Elementary School.

The terms of employment and salary will be in accordance with the provisions of the Westfield Public Schools Unit A salary schedule. Salary placement will be based on information contained in the application as submitted.
Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Westfield School Committee policy on evaluation.
POSITION SUBJECT TO FUNDING
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the direction of authorized administrators shall provide:
- Direct instruction to students in program methodologies including but not limited to Applied Behavior Analysis and Discrete Trial Training.
- Development of individualized curriculum and support with generalization.
- Instruction of social skills curriculum and support with generalization.
- Case management of all students' IEP services including development and implementation of goals and objectives, progress reporting.
- Evaluate student progress based on work output and observation; determine goals, objectives and directions.
- Close communication with parents; parent consultation as needed.
- Consultation/collaboration with content area instructors, related service providers and consultants.
- Development of behavior protocols and data collection.
- Collaboration with transition coordinator and planning for post secondary goals.
- Development of behavior protocols and data collection.
- Consultation with teachers and administrators within larger school community to identify and develop increased opportunities for inclusion, and assist in the implementation of accommodations.
- Maintain the physical environment of the classroom for organization and presentation purposes.
- Assist other professionals in resolving psychological, social, academic, and disciplinary problems of students.
- Assist in screening, evaluating, and recommending placement of students in the program.
- Supervise students in and out of classroom activities during the school day.
- Prepare report cards, education records, IEP forms, classroom observation records and other forms.
- Administer testing evaluation.
- Implementation and knowledge of ABLLS assessment.
- Participate in IEP meetings.
- Spend appropriate time outside of regular school hours to prepare classes, assess student work, and perform ancillary duties.
- Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the building principal or the Superintendent of Schools and/or their designee.

Job Requirements- QUALIFICATIONS:
- Certified as a teacher of Moderate Disabilities and Elementary, Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education
- OR
- Certified as a teacher of Severe Disabilities, Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
- Experience with Autism/PPD/Asperger's at various levels of functioning (MR to cognitively normal) including those with behavior problems.
- Those requirements as set forth under Federal and State Special Education Regulations.
- Applied Behavior Analysis certification preferred.
Work is generally conducted within school building. Ability to travel throughout the school building is necessary. Position involves sitting and the ability to travel from one place to another within the office. Work is moderate in nature with regular lifting of up to 25 pounds and occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds with some pulling and pushing or reaching above, generally of desk and file drawers. Frequent use of hands to operate keyboards and telephones an other office equipment and to finger and handle. Regular attendance, on site, is an essential function of this position.
