Role and Responsibilities:
As an Assistant Teacher, you will play an essential role in helping create a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment for young children. You will work closely with lead teachers and center staff to implement KinderCare’s curriculum, support individual learning needs, and build meaningful relationships with families. This role provides the opportunity to inspire curiosity, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning in every child you serve.
- Assist the lead teacher in implementing KinderCare’s developmentally appropriate curriculum that encourages exploration, creativity, and social-emotional growth.
- Supervise and engage with children to ensure their safety and well-being while following licensing and health guidelines.
- Foster warm, respectful, and responsive relationships with children and communicate effectively with families and staff.
- Support children in exploring interests, solving problems, and developing new skills through hands-on activities and guided play.
- Collaborate with teachers and center leadership to maintain smooth classroom operations and contribute to a positive workplace culture.
- Assist in preparing materials, setting up learning centers, and keeping the classroom clean, safe, and welcoming.
- Participate in training and development opportunities for continued growth and career advancement.
Required Skills and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must meet state-specific qualifications for early childhood teaching roles or be willing to obtain them.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow direction from lead teachers and center management.
- Demonstrated passion for working with young children and supporting their development.
- Excellent communication, organization, and multitasking skills.
- Physically able to engage with children, lift up to 40 pounds, and participate in indoor and outdoor activities.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain.
- CDA or coursework in Early Childhood Education preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with infants, toddlers, or preschool-aged children.
- Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or willingness to pursue certification with company support.
- Knowledge of child development principles and age-appropriate learning strategies.
