Health School Nurse

Position Overview:

The Health School Nurse is responsible for promoting and maintaining the health and well-being of students and staff. This role provides direct nursing care, manages student health records, responds to medical emergencies, and supports a safe and healthy school environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct nursing care and first aid to students and staff.
• Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and district policies.
• Develop and implement individualized healthcare plans (IHPs) for students with medical needs.
• Respond to medical emergencies and coordinate emergency care when necessary.
• Maintain accurate and confidential student health records.
• Collaborate with parents, teachers, and administrators regarding student health concerns.
• Ensure compliance with state health regulations and district guidelines.
• Provide health education and promote wellness initiatives within the school community.

Qualifications

Education:

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited institution (Bachelor’s preferred).

Licensure:

Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the Nevada State Board of Nursing.

Certifications:

CPR and First Aid certification required.

Work Environment:

This position operates within a school setting and may require standing, walking, lifting, and responding quickly to emergencies throughout the school day.
