Position: Long-Term Substitute Special Education Teacher - Life Skills (PAVE Program)
Location: Chelmsford High School
Assignment Dates: Immediate start - 02/13/2026 (Dates are subject to change)
General Description: Special educator for students with intellectual disabilities. This position provides a combination of functional academic skills and daily living skills necessary for students to participate as independently as possible in the community. The skills include: self-care skills, functional academic skills, social communication skills, pre-vocational & other job-related skills, as well as other transitional skills as identified. In this role, the special educator must also be able to manage support staff, work collaboratively with various service providers, and oversee the scheduling of staff and students.
- Design, supervise, and implement students’ IEP plans
- Knowledge & experience with transition planning and writing transition planning forms.
- Develop curriculum modifications and adaptations
- Participate in IEP Team meetings.
- Write effective IEPs for students
- Collect and analyze student data and monitor student progress
- Effectively work with a team of professionals to coordinate services
- Consult with the general education teacher and related service providers.
- Assist classroom teachers with instructional strategies to facilitate inclusion.
- Write quarterly progress reports for IEP goals that are data-based on student performance.
- Undertake various diagnostic testing that identifies student capabilities and recognise student progress on a timely basis
