2nd Grade Teacher

Position Overview

The 2nd Grade Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging, standards-based instruction that supports the academic, social, and emotional growth of elementary students. This role requires the ability to differentiate instruction, foster a positive classroom culture, and ensure that each student builds a strong foundation for lifelong learning. The Teacher works under the limited supervision of the Principal and collaborates closely with staff, families, and the school community.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with the North Carolina Standard Course of Study.
• Create a structured and positive classroom environment that promotes student engagement and achievement.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including students with special needs.
• Assess student progress regularly using multiple assessment methods and provide timely feedback and progress reports.
• Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and staff regarding student performance and development.
• Maintain accurate records while ensuring confidentiality of student information.
• Integrate technology and 21st-century skills into daily instruction.
• Promote critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
• Supervise students during instructional and non-instructional periods as assigned.
• Uphold district policies, administrative procedures, and school rules.
• Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and school committees.
• Ensure a safe and secure learning environment by adhering to health and safety guidelines.

Minimum Qualifications

• Valid North Carolina Teaching License in Elementary Education (or eligibility to obtain licensure).
• Demonstrated knowledge of child development and instructional best practices for elementary students.
• Strong communication, classroom management, and organizational skills.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the school day.
• Ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision, and hearing.
• Ability to perform light lifting (up to 30 pounds) and routine classroom movements such as bending, reaching, and squatting.
• Ability to use classroom technology and office equipment.
• Occasional driving may be required.
