After School Preschool Teacher

Role and Responsibilities:

As an After School Preschool Teacher at Primrose School, you will provide a safe, fun, and educational environment for preschool-aged children after their regular school day. You will guide children through a structured afterschool program and implement engaging activities that promote social, emotional, and cognitive development.

• Lead and supervise a group of preschool children during after-school hours.
• Implement engaging and developmentally appropriate activities based on the Primrose Balanced Learning® curriculum.
• Encourage curiosity, creativity, and confidence through activities that promote emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
• Foster a safe, fun, and caring environment that encourages children to explore and build relationships.
• Assist with homework or schoolwork assignments as needed, ensuring children stay on track academically.
• Communicate effectively with parents and staff about the children's progress and needs.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and well-kept classroom and common areas.
• Follow health, safety, and child care regulations at all times.

Required Skills and Experience:

• High School Diploma or equivalent (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field is a plus).
• No previous teaching experience required; full training is provided.
• Ability to follow lesson plans and guidelines set by school leadership.
• Strong classroom management skills and ability to create a positive learning environment.
• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs. in connection with handling children and for safety purposes.
• Ability to work flexible hours, typically between 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. during the school week.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working with children in an educational or child care setting, especially in preschool or afterschool programs.
• Knowledge of early childhood development and learning principles.
• CPR and First Aid Certification (preferred or willing to obtain upon hire).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• Patience, creativity, and a passion for working with young children.
