Position Overview:
The Elementary Teacher at Rocketship Public Schools is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction and fostering a classroom environment that promotes academic excellence, inclusivity, and student growth. Teachers specialize in either Humanities or STEM and work collaboratively with instructional coaches, school leaders, and families to ensure all students reach their full potential.
This role focuses on building strong relationships with students and families, using data-driven instruction, and engaging in continuous professional development. The Elementary Teacher reports to the Principal or Assistant Principal and contributes to building a supportive and high-performing school community.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Create a positive classroom culture that promotes belonging, high expectations, and academic achievement.
- Deliver rigorous instruction in assigned subject areas (Humanities or STEM) using the school’s curriculum.
- Develop and submit lesson plans for feedback and continuously improve instructional practices.
- Adapt teaching strategies to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
- Use student performance data to guide instruction and improve learning outcomes.
- Collaborate with special education staff to support students with additional learning needs.
- Incorporate Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) practices to support students’ well-being and development.
- Build strong relationships with families through consistent communication and collaboration.
- Conduct annual home visits and maintain ongoing contact with families throughout the academic year.
- Engage parents in setting academic and behavioral goals for students.
- Participate in school activities and community events to strengthen partnerships.
- Participate in coaching sessions and professional development to enhance teaching practices.
- Collaborate with colleagues and school leaders to improve instructional strategies.
- Reflect on teaching practices and apply feedback to support student success.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Valid Multiple Subject Teaching Credential or eligibility for a Provisional Internship Permit (PIP) or Short-Term Staff Permit (STSP).
- Current CPR certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross, or willingness to obtain certification prior to the start date.
- Ability to maintain an active and valid teaching credential throughout employment.

- Commitment to continuous professional development and student achievement.
