Responsibilities:

Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that promote social, emotional, and cognitive development.
Foster a safe and inclusive classroom environment that encourages exploration and discovery.
Assess and monitor each child's progress and adapt teaching methods accordingly.
Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding their child's development and milestones.
Collaborate with fellow educators to enhance curriculum and share best practices.
Maintain a clean, organized, and stimulating classroom setting.
Participate in ongoing professional development and training opportunities.
Encourage positive behavior and conflict resolution among students.

Requirements:·

Must meet Virginia Department of Social Services (VDSS) Lead Teacher qualifications
Minimum of 2–3 years of experience working in a licensed preschool or early childhood education setting
One of the following credentials:
- CDA (Child Development Associate) OR
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field OR
- Equivalent education/training as approved by VDSS
Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
Completion of required VDSS training, including:
Child Abuse & Neglect
Health & Safety
Medication Administration (if applicable)
Ability to pass all required background check

Preferred Qualifications

3+ years of experience as a Lead or Co-Lead Teacher
Experience implementing a structured or research-based curriculum
Knowledge of Virginia licensing standards and classroom compliance
Experience mentoring or supporting assistant teachers
Passion for continuous learning and professional development
