Role and Responsibilities:

As a Teacher of the Deaf, you will design and implement individualized education programs to support students with hearing impairments. You will collaborate with families, educators, and specialists to enhance learning outcomes and ensure students achieve their educational goals.

• Develop and deliver personalized lesson plans for students with hearing impairments
• Assess student progress and adapt teaching strategies to meet individual needs
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, speech and language therapists, and support staff
• Provide guidance and training to families and caregivers on communication strategies
• Maintain accurate records of student development and progress
• Promote an inclusive learning environment and model effective communication techniques

Required Skills and Experience:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education, Deaf Education, or related field
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent certification
• Proven experience teaching students with hearing impairments
• Strong knowledge of educational strategies for Deaf and hard-of-hearing students
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
• Proficiency in assistive technology and educational software for Deaf learners

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with sign language instruction (BSL or ASL)
• Knowledge of audiology and speech therapy techniques
• Experience coordinating with multi-disciplinary teams
