Role and Responsibilities:
As a School Mental Health Specialist, you will provide essential psychological services to support students, families, and staff. The role emphasizes assessment, intervention, and consultation to promote positive student development and foster a supportive learning atmosphere.
- Conduct psychological evaluations to assess students’ needs, strengths, and learning styles.
- Develop and implement personalized intervention strategies and behavior support plans to address student challenges.
- Offer counseling services to students, addressing emotional, social, and behavioral issues.
- Collaborate with teachers, school administrators, and families to create strategies that enhance student well-being and academic progress.
- Participate in IEP (Individualized Education Program) and CSE (Committee on Special Education) meetings, offering professional insights and recommendations.
- Monitor student progress and adjust interventions based on data-driven results.
- Work alongside multidisciplinary teams to address school-wide mental health and behavioral concerns.
- Provide crisis intervention and support during emergency situations affecting students or staff.
- Document assessments, interventions, and progress in accordance with district policies and confidentiality standards.
- Engage in continuous professional development to stay current with best practices in educational psychology.
Required Skills and Experience:
- A Doctoral or Master’s degree in School Psychology or a related field.
- Active certification or licensure as a School Psychologist in the appropriate state.
- Experience in conducting psychological assessments and providing counseling in school environments.
- Comprehensive knowledge of special education laws, IEP development, and best educational practices.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in collaborative settings.
- Proficiency with relevant software used for assessment, documentation, and communication.

- Experience with crisis intervention and behavioral support strategies.
- Familiarity with evidence-based methods for addressing academic, social, and emotional challenges.
