TITLE OF VACANCY: Certified School Nurse

LOCATION: TBD

CONTRACT PERIOD: 180 days

REPORTS TO: Building Principal

SIGN ON BONUS: For the 2025-2026 school year a sign on bonus will be provided to new hires.

The first installment ($2,000.00) shall be paid within thirty (30) days of the successful candidate’s start date.

The second installment ($2,000.00) shall be paid on the first paycheck in June 2026, following the successful candidate’s first year.

If the employee does not complete 4 years, they will be responsible for repayment of the prorated amount ($1,000.00 per year).

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

• Professional Educators License with School Nurse Endorsement and/or RN Certified preferred
• Certified and current in CPR
• Variety of previous nursing experience
• Ability to communicate and maintain good working relationships with parents and employees of District 186
• Excellent organizational, clerical and technology skills
• Illinois certificate as a Vision and Hearing screening technician or willingness to complete program.

JOB DESCRIPTION RESPONSIBILITES:

• Provides care for students with special needs, including participation in educational planning meetings.
• Provides first aid assistance, including but not limited to diabetes and asthma
• Assists with collection and maintenance of health records and data
• Conduct vision and hearing screening as directed
• Administers medication according to school district policy
• Maintains open communication with the Health Service Coordinator, relating messages as directed to teachers, other school personnel, and parent/guardians in order that a cooperative action will meet the health needs of pupils
• Maintains confidentiality regarding all school and health-related issues
• Other duties as assigned
