We are currently seeking a Visual Impairments Teacher (TVI) for a district-wide assignment. This position provides an exciting opportunity to work with students with visual impairments, making a lasting impact on their education and development.

Role and Responsibilities

As a Teacher of Visually Impaired (TVI), you will take on the responsibility of delivering specialized instruction and services to meet the unique educational needs of students with visual impairments. This role allows you to have a direct impact on the academic and personal growth of young learners in a supportive school environment. You will work with other professionals to create tailored lessons, provide training on adaptive technologies, and assist students in navigating their educational journey.

This is a district-wide, in-person position that offers the chance to work with diverse student populations in multiple educational settings. If you're passionate about making a difference and helping students succeed despite visual challenges, we would love to hear from you.

• Deliver individualized lessons tailored to each student’s visual needs, including content on academics, orientation and mobility skills, visual efficiency training, and the use of adaptive technology such as screen readers, magnifiers, and Braille devices.
• Conduct comprehensive vision assessments to evaluate individual student needs and monitor progress, adjusting instructional strategies based on outcomes.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists, counselors, and IEP teams to create and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students with visual impairments.
• Teach students to use assistive technologies, including Braille devices, magnifiers, screen readers, and specialized software, to access and interact with the curriculum effectively.
• Continuously assess student progress, modify instructional approaches as needed, and provide feedback to parents and educators to support students' growth and development.
• Travel between multiple campuses in the district to provide services across different schools, offering flexibility and varied teaching experiences.

Required Skills and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field required; a Master's degree is preferred.
• Previous experience working with special education students, particularly those with visual impairments, is highly preferred.
• Current teaching certification in Special Education or Visual Impairments is required.
• Must be willing and able to travel in a personal or school district vehicle between schools within the district.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively interact with students, teachers, and parents.
• Familiarity with Braille, assistive technology, and IEP development is essential.
