Assistant Preschool Teacher

Role and Responsibilities:

As an Assistant Preschool Teacher at Primrose Schools, you will work closely with the lead teacher to create a positive and enriching classroom environment for preschool-aged children. You will assist in implementing the Primrose Balanced Learning® curriculum and help ensure that each child’s educational, social, and emotional needs are met.

• Assist in planning and implementing lesson plans that promote development in language, literacy, science, and social-emotional skills.
• Create a nurturing and safe classroom environment where children are encouraged to learn and explore.
• Supervise and engage children during playtime, structured activities, and lessons.
• Help manage classroom behavior using positive guidance techniques to ensure a supportive environment.
• Work closely with the lead teacher to track children’s progress and assist in individualized care when necessary.
• Maintain a clean and organized classroom, ensuring all materials and toys are sanitized regularly.
• Communicate with parents regarding their child’s progress and any areas of concern.
• Attend staff meetings and professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills.
• Follow all Primrose policies and adhere to state regulations regarding childcare and safety.

Required Skills and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field preferred.
• Previous experience in a preschool, daycare, or early childhood education setting preferred, but not required.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with both children and adults.
• Ability to work collaboratively with a team of educators.
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine love for working with young children.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 35 pounds for handling children, toys, and classroom materials.
• Must be able to pass a background check as required by local and state regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working with preschool-aged children.
• CDA (Child Development Associate) credential or working toward it is a plus.
• Knowledge of early childhood development and basic child behavior management techniques.
• First Aid and CPR certified, or willingness to obtain certification upon hire.
