K–8 Music Teacher

Mystic Valley seeks a dedicated Music Teacher to lead and inspire students in Kindergarten through Grade 8. The ideal candidate will bring enthusiasm for both music and teaching, guiding students through a Core Knowledge-aligned curriculum that emphasizes artistic development through practice, performance, and skill-building.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver dynamic, engaging instruction aligned with the established music curriculum.

Design lessons with clear objectives, measurable outcomes, and opportunities for student growth.

Assess and document student progress, providing timely feedback and accurate reporting.

Collaborate weekly with Specials colleagues and maintain open communication with the Assistant Director.

Foster a structured, positive classroom culture using the school’s assertive discipline model.

Participate actively in staff meetings, professional development, and school events.

Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the Assistant Director.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Music, Music Education, or a related field (required).

Strong oral and written communication skills.

Ability to evaluate information, problem-solve, and make informed instructional decisions.

Proven capacity to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.

Knowledge of relevant state and federal education regulations and MVRCS policies.

Demonstrated collaboration, instructional, and leadership abilities.

Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

Deep content expertise and the ability to design lessons that meet diverse student needs.

Successful completion of required MTEL exams within one year of employment.

Additional Information

This is a full-time, school-year position. Appointments are annual and subject to yearly evaluation.
