Job Description:Four Rivers Charter Public School is seeking an outstanding Learning Specialist (Special Education Teacher) for our high school. Affiliated with EL Education, Four Rivers is college preparatory and has a clear mission of educating young people for lives of learning and service. Located in Greenfield, MA, Four Rivers enrolls 220 students in grades 7-12 and has been in operation for over 20 years. As this is a middle of the year hire, the possibility of this being an interim position is negotiable with candidates who may need this flexibility.

Qualifications:

• MA DESE licensure as Teacher of Students with Moderate Disabilities
• Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field; Master's degree preferred
• Successful experience as a Special Education Teacher with middle and/or high school students; minimum of three years in a public school preferred
• Strong skills with computer technology and reporting platforms
• Personal qualities that exemplify the school’s emphasis on character and community, including genuine interest in and connection with adolescents
• Appreciation for the EL Education design model, and commitment to work with colleagues and coaches to modify curriculum and implement core practices
• Strong interpersonal skills, commitment to teamwork, and readiness to reflect and grow
• Knowledge of classroom management techniques and accommodations
• Energy, flexibility, and sense of adventure required to work hard in a small school
• Enthusiasm for the school’s mission and its themes of nature, technology and community and understanding of the school’s responsibilities as a charter public school
• Experience implementing culturally sustaining teaching practices

• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Provide instruction in various subjects such as math, language arts, science, and social studies
• Utilize effective teaching strategies to support students' learning goals
• Conduct assessments to monitor student progress and inform adjustments to teaching methods accordingly
• Collaborate with parents, caregivers, and other educators to ensure student success
• Create engaging lesson plans that cater to different learning styles
• Manage classroom behavior and create a positive learning environment
• Direct a team of teaching assistants and support them in their role
