Role and Responsibilities:

Primrose School is seeking a Closing Pre-Kindergarten Teacher to support our Pre-K classrooms and ensure a smooth transition into the evening hours. This role is ideal for an educator who thrives in a structured yet engaging environment and enjoys building meaningful relationships with young learners. You will help children strengthen kindergarten readiness skills while providing nurturing care and guidance. As a closing teacher, you will oversee end-of-day routines, maintain classroom quality, and ensure children are safely and positively supported until dismissal.

• Support the Pre-K Lead Teacher in implementing the Primrose Balanced Learning® curriculum.
• Create a calm, nurturing, and engaging environment during the afternoon and evening hours.
• Assist children with activities that promote social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
• Facilitate closing routines, including cleanup, organization, and preparing the classroom for the next day.
• Maintain a safe and healthy environment, following all Primrose and state guidelines.
• Communicate professionally with parents during end-of-day pick-ups.
• Collaborate with co-teachers and school leadership to maintain consistency in classroom management.
• Participate in required training, meetings, and professional development opportunities.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Minimum high school diploma or equivalent; degree in Early Childhood Education preferred.
• Prior experience working with preschool or Pre-K-aged children.
• Ability to work closing shifts (typically 2:30 PM–6:00 PM or similar).
• CPR and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days).
• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs. and engage in classroom activities.
• Classroom Management: Ability to maintain a calm, organized, and positive classroom environment.
• Communication: Strong interpersonal skills for speaking with children, families, and staff.
• Adaptability: Ability to adjust to late-day needs, transitions, and varying student energy levels.
• Organization: Strong attention to detail when cleaning, organizing, and preparing the classroom.
• Teamwork: Works well collaboratively and supports co-teachers and leadership.
• Patience and Empathy: Ability to provide compassionate guidance during end-of-day routines.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with the Balanced Learning® curriculum or similar structured early learning programs.
• CDA or higher early childhood credential.
• Strong understanding of Pre-K developmental milestones.
• Experience managing end-of-day transitions or closing procedures in childcare settings.
• Bilingual abilities are a plus.
