Role and Responsibilities:

As an After School Club Teacher at Primrose School, you will create a fun, safe, and engaging environment for children participating in the after-school program. You will help facilitate activities, support homework time, and nurture social-emotional development to foster a love of learning while ensuring each child feels encouraged and supported.

• Supervise and engage children in a safe and enriching after-school environment.
• Facilitate educational and recreational activities that encourage children to explore, learn, and grow.
• Help children with their homework and academic enrichment activities.
• Build positive relationships with children and their families to create a welcoming, inclusive environment.
• Ensure that classroom and common areas are well-maintained, safe, and organized.
• Provide verbal recognition and acceptance to children while offering consistent behavior expectations.
• Communicate effectively with parents and staff to promote an open, supportive relationship.
• Attend required staff meetings and workshops to develop teaching skills and stay informed on Primrose policies and practices.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Must meet local state regulations and child care licensing requirements.
• High school diploma or equivalent required (Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field preferred).
• Previous experience working with children in an educational or recreational setting is a plus.
• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs., including assisting children with mobility, activities, and emergencies.
• Flexible schedule with availability to work in the afternoons, Monday through Friday.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills to manage the flow of daily activities.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior experience working with children in a group setting or after-school program.
• Experience implementing educational or recreational activities for children.
• Knowledge of child development and the ability to work with children of various ages and developmental stages.
• CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Strong communication skills with both children and adults.
• Enthusiastic, patient, and nurturing personality with a passion for working with children.
