Role and Responsibilities:

As an Assistant Toddler Teacher at Primrose School, you will work alongside lead teachers to provide a nurturing, safe, and stimulating environment for toddlers. You will assist in implementing the Primrose Balanced Learning® curriculum while helping to create a positive and enriching experience for the children in your care. You will be responsible for supporting the development of social, emotional, cognitive, and physical skills in young children.

• Assist the Lead Toddler Teacher in planning and implementing a curriculum that promotes the development of toddlers.
• Foster a positive, caring, and safe environment where children feel secure and encouraged to explore.
• Help with classroom management, ensuring that the children are engaged and supervised at all times.
• Communicate effectively with parents, providing updates and feedback on the child’s progress.
• Assist in the organization of classroom materials and ensure a clean, orderly, and attractive environment.
• Help with the planning and facilitating of activities that promote developmental milestones such as communication, fine and gross motor skills, and social interaction.
• Support the classroom’s daily routines and transitions, including nap time, meals, and outdoor play.
• Attend and participate in staff meetings, workshops, and training as required.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Education: A minimum of a high school diploma or GED required; a 2-year degree in early childhood education or a related field is preferred.
• Experience: Previous experience working with toddlers in an early childhood education setting is preferred.
• Certifications: CPR and First Aid certifications required (or willingness to obtain within 90 days of employment).
• Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs. and assist with the physical needs of toddlers, including lifting infants in and out of cribs as needed.
• Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work well with children, parents, and staff members in a team-oriented environment.
• Organizational Skills: Ability to maintain a clean and well-organized classroom.
• Patience and Empathy: Ability to relate to young children and their families with kindness, patience, and understanding.
• Flexibility: Ability to adapt to changes in the daily routine or classroom environment.
• Creativity: Ability to develop and implement creative activities that foster developmental growth.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working with children under the age of 3.
• A strong understanding of child development, especially in toddler-aged children.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
• Knowledge of child safety regulations and early childhood education standards.
