Position Overview:
The School Psychologist at Rocketship Public Schools provides both direct and indirect support to students, families, and staff to ensure high-quality programming for students with disabilities. This role plays a critical part in meeting Child Find obligations, supporting special education inclusion, and fostering student success within a collaborative school environment. The School Psychologist reports to the Manager of Psych Services.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Lead psycho-educational and formal behavior assessments, and write compliant assessment reports.
- Attend IEP meetings and present assessment findings to the team.
- Assist in implementing assessment recommendations as needed.
- Participate in the pre-referral process and provide consultation to school teams regarding interventions for struggling students.
- Work with parents to build understanding of disabilities and inclusive support strategies.
- Provide consultation and guidance to administrators, teachers, and parents regarding general and special education programs.
- Coordinate and communicate with community agencies as appropriate.
- Maintain a compliant and ethical practice.
- Create, consult, and implement 504 plans as required by some campuses.
- Provide consultation regarding social-emotional and behavioral systems and structures.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Manager, School Psychology.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Master’s degree in School Psychology.
- Valid California Pupil Personnel Services credential (or applicable state credential).
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Commitment to special education inclusion and Rocketship’s mission to close the achievement gap.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to evolving needs.
- Experience maintaining records, meeting compliance deadlines, and establishing cooperative relationships with students, parents, and school personnel.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to multiple sites.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Nationally Certified School Psychologist credential.
- Bilingual in Spanish.
- Experience with Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS).
- Experience with elementary-age students.
- Experience supporting students with a range of disabilities (learning disabilities, emotional and behavioral disorders, autism, etc.).

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this position, employees are regularly required to talk, hear, and communicate with adults and children, use hands and fingers, stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds or climb ladders. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Noise levels are moderate to high.
