Company Overview:
Oakland Schools is seeking a qualified and dedicated School Psychologist to support student success through comprehensive psychological services, collaboration with educational teams, and implementation of evidence-based intervention strategies. The ideal candidate will contribute to academic, behavioral, and social-emotional development while supporting district-wide student achievement initiatives.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Support all students through the consistent implementation of the Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) framework.
- Collaborate with teams to complete Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA) and assist in developing Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs).
- Collect and analyze data and conduct systematic observations for students experiencing emotional, behavioral, learning, or attention-related challenges.
- Provide evidence-based interventions and recommendations to support students across all tier levels.
- Conduct psychological evaluations and re-evaluations for referred students within an educational setting.
- Lead Multi-Disciplinary and Multi-Evaluation Teams in determining student eligibility in accordance with applicable special education guidelines.
- Interpret psychological assessment data for educators, administrators, parents, and students.
- Provide consultative support to teachers and administrators regarding academic and social-emotional interventions.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and remain informed of current best practices in school psychology.
- Prepare detailed psychological reports for initial evaluations and re-determination processes.
- Report directly to the Director of Special Education.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Master’s Degree in School Psychology required.
- Valid State of Michigan School Psychologist certification required.
- Strong understanding of MTSS frameworks and special education evaluation procedures.
- Knowledge of Section 504 eligibility and compliance procedures.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, staff, students, and families.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Specialist Degree in School Psychology preferred.
- Experience administering and interpreting psychological evaluations in educational settings.
- Experience supporting behavioral and social-emotional interventions for students.
- Knowledge of evidence-based instructional and intervention strategies.
