Duties and Responsibilities As a member of our founding team, teachers play a critical role in ensuring we provide all students with an excellent education. The LACS Fellow is a unique, full-time position that includes teaching as well as managing and implementing aspects of Libertas Academy’s program. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to): Teaching responsibilities • Teach two-three classes a day ? Internalize and practice provided lesson plans ? Submit weekly lesson plans to the Director of Curriculum and Instruction • Serve as a homeroom teacher ? Within a team of three teachers, plan and lead activities for a homeroom group of 28 students ? Serve as an advisor for 9-10 students ? Participate in Weekly Grade Level Team meetings ? Contribute to Grade Level Team activities, assemblies, special events, etc. Operational responsibilities • Provide 10 – 15 hours per week of operational support, as requested by the Dean of Operations ? Substitute teach classes across, across subject areas, as assigned in the daily morning email ? Provide coverage for non-instructional time (lunch, silent reading period, etc.) as requested in the daily morning email ? Provide inclusion support as requested ? Other operational support as requested Programmatic Responsibilities (shared responsibilities with other members of our team) • Lead a group of students in a 90-minute enrichment class session on Fridays • Participate in professional development and Friday meetings • Coordinate Libertas’ Community Service Program ? With oversight from the Operations staff, plan field trips and activities Other job responsibilities • Serve as productive member of the Libertas Academy Community • Perform other responsibilities or tasks as requested • Do whatever it takes to ensure that the mission of the school is fulfilled. Qualifications: • Education: Bachelor’s Degree required • Preferred skills and work experience: o Demonstrates persistence in overcoming and removing obstacles to goal achievement o Demonstrates a drive, commitment and sense of urgency that inspires others to achieve results Demonstrated success working with students in traditionally underserved communities o Critical thinker and problem-solver o Collaborative team player o Willingness to engage in frequent dialogue and to be self-reflective with regard to teaching practices o Commitment to analyzing student data to push student achievement forward o Ability to work with a variety of learning abilities and differentiate for those students with special needs and English Learners o No teaching experience required. o Spanish fluency highly desirable Salary & Benefits Libertas Academy Charter School offers a competitive salary and comprehensive health benefits.
