Lower Elementary Teacher

Oakland Schools is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Lower Elementary Teacher for the Summer Discovery Learning Program. This role is designed for educators passionate about creating engaging and enriching learning experiences for elementary students during the summer session. The ideal candidate will foster creativity, exploration, and academic growth in a supportive classroom environment.

Role and Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that encourage student discovery and exploration.
• Create a positive, safe, and supportive learning environment for all students.
• Collaborate with fellow educators and program staff to ensure a successful summer learning experience.
• Assess student progress and provide feedback on academic and behavioral development.
• Support students through interactive and hands-on educational activities.
• Participate in required in-person training sessions prior to program commencement.
• Assist with scheduled field trips and extracurricular program activities as needed.
• Maintain classroom organization and effective communication with program leadership.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Valid elementary teaching certification required.
• Previous experience working in an educational or classroom setting.
• Strong classroom management and communication skills.
• Ability to create engaging and age-appropriate instructional activities.
• Commitment to supporting student learning and development.

• Experience working in summer learning or enrichment programs.
