Global Learning Charter Public School is seeking a high-performing ELD Teacher to join the English Learner Education (ELE) team. The ELD Teacher will be responsible for providing English language development instruction in a self-contained classroom as well as push-in language development in other content area classes.

The ELE team has developed and adopted these elements to guide our work.

Job Expectations:

  • Provide English language development instruction within an SEI program model that includes self-contained language development classes as well as push-in language development within other content area courses
  • Apply concepts from professional development that improve student learning
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, special education teachers, and other ELD teachers to support student language development
  • Collect and analyze language development data to inform planning and instruction
  • Administer language development assessments, track student progress, and ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
  • Share data with other teachers so that all teachers address student language development in their instruction
  • Regularly communicate with families
  • Establish and communicate clear goals and objectives for all learning activities
  • Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by laws and GLCPS policies
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing clear guidelines and procedures
  • Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of GLCPS
  • Participate in department and school meetings, parent meetings
  • Be on time for all classes, meetings, and duties
  • Provide coverage for assigned duties
  • Follow teacher dress guidelines
  • Complete paperwork in a timely manner for all requests of leave
  • Complete purchase order for all requested supplies and expenses
  • Maintain professional relationship with students, colleagues, parents, and community members
  • Communicate any concerns to students, parents, supervisor, administration, and/or counseling staff, when appropriate
  • Set annual goals with supervisor and work towards completing them

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Possession of MA certification in ESL
  • Experience working in a structured school environment that promotes a positive culture of collaboration for student achievement is preferred
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience preferred
