Position Overview:
The Kindergarten Teacher at Rocketship Public Schools is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction and fostering a classroom environment that promotes academic growth, social-emotional development, and a love of learning. Teachers specialize in early childhood education and work collaboratively with instructional coaches, school leaders, and families to ensure every child reaches their full potential.
This role emphasizes strong relationships with students and families, data-driven instruction, and continuous professional growth. The Kindergarten Teacher reports to the Principal or Assistant Principal and contributes to a supportive and high-performing school community.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Build a classroom culture of excellence, belonging, and high expectations.
- Deliver rigorous and developmentally appropriate instruction using Rocketship’s curriculum.
- Submit lesson plans for feedback and collaborate with instructional coaches to personalize learning for students.
- Use student data to inform instructional planning and drive student progress.
- Collaborate with special education staff to support students with additional needs.
- Integrate Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) and partner with the Wellness team to support the whole child.
- Develop authentic partnerships with families through consistent communication and annual home visits.
- Engage families in setting academic and behavioral goals, and transparently share student progress.
- Participate in school events and community gatherings to strengthen parent and community engagement.
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure consistent support and a positive staff culture.
- Engage in professional development and coaching to continuously improve teaching practices.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Valid teaching credential in the desired subject, OR eligibility for a Provisional Internship Permit (PIP) or Short-Term Staff Permit (STSP).
- Current CPR certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross, or willingness to obtain certification prior to start date.
- Teachers without a California credential must transfer an out-of-state credential or enroll in an accredited credentialing program during the first year.

Compensation and Benefits:
- Salary range: $71,000 – $83,130 annually, based on qualifications and experience.
