Role and Responsibilities:
As a School Behavior Specialist, you will be responsible for providing a range of psychological services aimed at supporting students, their families, and school personnel. Your work will focus on conducting assessments, delivering interventions, and offering consultation to encourage positive student growth and ensure a thriving educational environment.
- Conduct psychological assessments to evaluate students' strengths, challenges, and learning styles.
- Develop and implement tailored intervention strategies and behavior management plans to support students’ needs.
- Provide individual and group counseling to address emotional, social, and behavioral concerns among students.
- Work closely with educators, administrators, and families to create strategies that support both student well-being and academic success.
- Participate in IEP (Individualized Education Program) and CSE (Committee on Special Education) meetings to offer insights and professional recommendations.
- Monitor student progress and adjust interventions based on ongoing assessments and measurable results.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to tackle school-wide mental health and behavioral challenges.
- Provide crisis intervention support in response to urgent situations involving students or staff.
- Maintain accurate documentation of assessments, interventions, and student progress, following district confidentiality policies and procedures.
- Engage in professional development opportunities to stay informed on the latest best practices in school psychology.
Required Skills and Experience:
- A Doctoral or Master's degree in School Psychology or a related discipline.
- Active certification or licensure as a School Psychologist in the state where services will be provided.
- Experience with conducting psychological assessments and providing counseling within an educational environment.
- Strong understanding of special education laws, IEP processes, and best practices in education.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented setting.
- Proficiency with relevant software for assessment, documentation, and communication.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with crisis management and behavioral intervention strategies.
- Knowledge of evidence-based practices for addressing academic, social, and emotional challenges faced by students.
- Previous experience working within multidisciplinary teams in diverse educational settings.
