High School Business Teacher RISE Academy

RISE Academy is an alternative high school within Lawrence Public Schools. RISE is a trauma-informed school, grounded in restorative justice, that values relationships and mutual respect with the belief that all students want to be successful in school. RISE students learn in a competency-based structure in an academic and social-emotional program that works to prepare students for an ever-changing world after high school.

RISE Academy incorporates competency-based education, the project-based learning, restorative justice, trauma informed practices, and the belief that all students want to be successful.

Responsibilities:

Develop and deliver engaging lessons in business-related subjects aligned with state standards and school curriculum.

Teach courses such as: Introduction to Business, Entrepreneurship, Marketing, Business Law, Accounting, and Personal Finance.

Integrate technology, simulations, and project-based learning into instruction.

Promote 21st-century skills including communication, collaboration, and critical thinking.

Prepare students for business competitions, certification exams, and/or internships.

Provide academic and career guidance related to business pathways.

Collaborate with local businesses or organizations to support real-world learning opportunities.

Monitor and evaluate student progress through assessments, projects, and presentations.

Maintain accurate records of student grades, attendance, and performance.

Establish a positive and professional classroom culture conducive to learning.

Participate in faculty meetings, parent conferences, professional development, and school events.

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Education, Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
  
  Licensure: Valid state teaching certification in Business Education or Career & Technical Education (as required by state).
  
  Experience: Prior high school teaching experience preferred; experience in the business sector is a plus.
  
  Skills:
  
  Strong instructional and classroom management skills
  
  Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational abilities
  
  Proficiency in business software applications (Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, QuickBooks, etc.)
  
  Ability to inspire student interest in business and entrepreneurship
• At least 1 year(s) of relevant experience preferred.
