TITLE OF VACANCY: Special Education Resource Teacher

LOCATION: Travel

CONTRACT PERIOD:180 days

REPORTS TO:Building Principal

REQUIRMENTS/QUALIAFICATIONS:

• Valid Illinois PEL with LBS1 K – 8 endorsement
• Strong interpersonal communication skills in working with teachers, students,parents and staff
• Clear knowledge of adopted elementary curriculum and implementation
• Strong organizational skills
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Strong knowledge of intervention strategies and progress monitoring experience
• Strong Behavior Management
• Ability to informally assess learning and behavioral needs of students

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work under the direction of the building principal
• Participate in the development of comprehensive Individual Education Plans for identified students
• Provide instruction as determined by the students’ IEPs
• Work collaboratively with staff to implement students’ IEP goals
• Provide consultation, technical assistance and training to teachers and parents of students experiencing learning or behavioral problems
• Provide information to parents relative to strategies that can be used at home to support the school’s efforts
• Provide professional development to staff as identified by individual building needs
