Position Title:ABA Tech/ABA Tutor - PreK - Elementary

FLSA:Non-Exempt

Reports to:Building Principal, Evaluation Team Supervisor and/or ABA Coordinator

Terms of Employment:Paraprofessional Staff (209 days) with benefits according to the LEA Unit C collective bargaining agreement. 32 - 33.75 hours per week

Immediate Start Date. $33.03 - $43.34 per hour.

**Starting in the 2025-2026 school year, in placing an individual on a salary schedule, credit will be given for full-time experience in public schools or approved private schools, provided that such experience took place in the last ten (10) years. New hires shall not be placed in the gray boxes on the salary scale", meaning Step 5 (36.46 per hour), is the highest step a new hire can be placed on.

This position is known as a Student Support Instructor (SSI) in Lexington.

The Student Support Instructor (SSI), is responsible for working directly with students who are diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, implementing individualized academic and behavior programs. This position provides instruction using the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis, including discrete trial instruction, task analysis, and naturalistic teaching techniques.

The SSI implements programs to increase appropriate social skills and activities of daily living, and facilitates social interactions when necessary. The SSI at times may need to attend to the personal needs and safety of students, including escorts, toileting, toilet training, and supervision during lunch.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Classroom experience preferred
  • ABA experience preferred

Responsibilities:

  • works directly with students who are diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • implements individualized academic and behavior programs
  • provides instruction using the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), including discrete trial instruction, task analysis, and naturalistic teaching techniques
  • implements student-specific behavior plans to decrease challenging behaviors and increase functional behaviors
  • collects ongoing data and summarizes the data to monitor students’ progress
  • implements programs in the home to increase appropriate social skills and activities of daily living, and facilitates social interactions when necessary
  • models implementation of academic and behavior programs for parents
  • gathers and maintains students’ materials, data sheets, and program notebooks
  • responsible for any other duties assigned

Sample Preschool Schedule:

Monday - Thursday; 8:30am - 3:30pm

Friday - 8:30am - 3:00pm

Total: 32 hours/week

Sample Elementary Schedule:

Monday - Thursday; 8:15am - 3:45pm

Friday - 8:15am - 2:30pm

Total: 33.75 hours/week
