EMT Teacher

Role and Responsibilities:

As an EMT Teacher, you will lead classroom and practical instruction for students pursuing Emergency Medical Technician certification. You will develop engaging lesson plans, oversee clinical experiences, and ensure students meet educational and certification standards.

• Design and deliver lesson plans aligned with state EMT curriculum and industry standards.
• Instruct students in both classroom theory and practical skills required for EMT certification.
• Assess student performance through tests, practical demonstrations, and other evaluation methods.
• Manage and supervise hands-on clinical or field experiences in collaboration with local EMS agencies.
• Maintain accurate student records, including grades, attendance, and certification progress.
• Adapt teaching strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles and student needs.
• Stay current with EMS best practices, state regulations, and professional development opportunities.
• Foster a safe, inclusive, and motivating classroom environment that encourages student engagement and professional growth.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Valid EMT certification and experience in emergency medical services.
• North Carolina teaching certification or eligibility to obtain teaching licensure.
• Proficiency in developing and implementing lesson plans for secondary or post-secondary students.
• Strong classroom management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of state and national EMT training standards and certifications.
• Ability to supervise and evaluate students in both classroom and clinical settings.
• Familiarity with educational technology and classroom software for instructional purposes.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous teaching experience in career and technical education or healthcare-related programs.
• Advanced EMS certifications (e.g., Paramedic, CPR Instructor).
• Experience collaborating with local hospitals, fire departments, or EMS organizations for student clinical placements.
• Strong organizational skills with experience in tracking student progress and outcomes.
