QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must hold MA DESE licensure in music 1-5
• Experience teaching music classes at the 1-5 level
• Ability to direct large choral ensembles
• Knowledge and implementation of audiation-based music teaching

REPORTS TO:Principal and/or Department Chair

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:183 days; Position is covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Teach general music classes grades 1-5 and direct 4th and 5th grade all-inclusive choruses.
• Attend concerts and performances as needed throughout the year.
• Register and prepare students/ensembles for auditions and festivals as needed.
• Work with Performing Arts colleagues to align curriculum and lessons to established school and district objectives.
• Implement a variety of effective instructional strategies consistent with lesson objectives.
• Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
• Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
• Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning.
• Effectively implement district initiatives.
• Effectively collaborate with department and grade level teachers.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Abide by state statutes, school board policies and regulations.
• Attend meetings and perform duties as assigned by administrators or supervisors.
