Assistant Daycare Teacher

Role and Responsibilities:

As an Assistant Daycare Teacher at Primrose Schools, you will assist the lead teacher in providing a nurturing, safe, and educational environment for children aged infants to preschoolers. You will help implement the Balanced Learning® curriculum and support children’s development across multiple domains.

• Assist the lead teacher in planning and implementing daily lessons based on the Primrose Balanced Learning® curriculum.
• Oversee a group of children, ensuring their safety, well-being, and developmental needs are met.
• Create a positive, welcoming atmosphere for children to learn and grow, providing individualized attention as needed.
• Help maintain a clean, organized classroom that encourages exploration and independent learning.
• Collaborate with the lead teacher and other staff to foster a cooperative, engaging, and nurturing classroom environment.
• Participate in regular communication with parents to update them on children’s progress and milestones.
• Ensure compliance with all local and state regulations regarding child care and implement safety procedures.
• Assist with transitions between activities, meals, nap times, and outdoor play.

Required Skills and Experience:

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 6 months of experience in a child care setting or willingness to learn and grow in the role.
• Must meet local and state licensing requirements for daycare teachers.
• Ability to lift up to 35 pounds as required for child care activities, safety, and emergencies.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks efficiently.
• Passion for working with children and fostering their development.
• Flexibility and reliability to work within scheduled hours.
• Ability to create and maintain a positive, calm, and productive environment for children.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience working with children in a daycare, preschool, or early childhood education setting.
• Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or related field preferred.
• CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain upon hire.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
• Patience, creativity, and a passion for teaching and nurturing young children.
• Experience with or willingness to learn about Primrose Schools’ Balanced Learning® curriculum.
