Assistant Teacher

Role and Responsibilities:

As an Assistant Teacher, you will support the lead teacher in guiding young learners through structured and engaging activities. You will help maintain a nurturing and stimulating classroom environment while promoting the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development of each child according to the Balanced Learning® approach.

• Assist the lead teacher in supervising and managing a classroom of children.
• Implement lesson plans and daily schedules designed by the lead teacher.
• Support children’s learning through structured activities, purposeful play, and social-emotional guidance.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized classroom, including common areas and playgrounds.
• Encourage positive behavior with verbal recognition and consistent expectations.
• Communicate effectively with families, colleagues, and school leadership.
• Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills.
• Follow all health, safety, and regulatory guidelines.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director or leadership team.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Knowledge of early childhood development, including social, emotional, and creative needs of young children.
• Ability to lift up to 35 lbs. and safely handle children, including infants and toddlers when applicable.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience in early childhood education or as a teaching assistant preferred.
• Ability to follow classroom routines and assist lead teachers effectively.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Coursework or certification in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
• Prior experience in a licensed preschool or childcare program.
• Familiarity with structured curriculum programs like Balanced Learning®.
• CPR and First Aid certifications.
• Passion for helping children grow and learn in a supportive, collaborative environment.

Compensation and Benefits:

• $12.00 - $15.00 per hour (may vary by franchise owner).
