Role and Responsibilities:
The Preschool Teacher is the first formal guide in a child’s learning journey, responsible for introducing foundational concepts like early literacy, numeracy, and social skills. Unlike older grade teachers, this role blends play-based learning, emotional nurturing, and basic life skill development.
- Design and deliver developmentally appropriate preschool learning experiences that build early literacy, numeracy, communication, and social-emotional skills.
- Create a structured classroom environment where routines, expectations, and positive behavior systems support independent learning and emotional regulation.
- Facilitate play-based and inquiry-driven activities such as storytelling, songs, guided play, and hands-on exploration to strengthen cognitive and motor development.
- Observe, assess, and document student progress to guide instruction and ensure alignment with early childhood learning standards.
- Differentiate teaching strategies to meet varying developmental stages, learning styles, and individual student needs within the classroom.
- Maintain active supervision of students during instruction, transitions, meals, rest periods, and outdoor activities to ensure safety and engagement.
- Build strong communication channels with families to support consistent learning outcomes between home and school environments.
- Collaborate with early childhood staff and support teams to design cohesive learning plans and ensure holistic student development.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment with properly managed learning materials and resources.
- Encourage positive peer interaction, social development, and foundational problem-solving skills through guided group activities.
- Integrate early learning frameworks and curriculum standards into daily lesson planning and instructional delivery.
- Support children in developing self-care, independence, and classroom readiness skills aligned with kindergarten transition goals.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, child development, or a related field.
- Experience working with preschool-age children in structured educational settings.
- Strong understanding of early childhood development principles and classroom management strategies.
- Ability to design and implement engaging, age-appropriate lesson plans.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with children, families, and staff.
- Ability to maintain accurate documentation of student progress and learning outcomes.
- Knowledge of inclusive classroom practices and differentiated instruction methods.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Teaching certification in early childhood education or related endorsement.
- Training in early childhood curriculum models and developmental assessment tools.
- Experience in collaborative teaching environments or team-based instructional settings.
- Certification in CPR, first aid, or child safety training.
- Experience working in culturally diverse classroom environments.
