As a Chess Teacher, you will work closely with students and instructional teams to foster intellectual curiosity and a love of learning through structured chess instruction.

Role and Responsibilities:

The Chess Teacher is responsible for designing and delivering engaging chess instruction that supports students’ cognitive development and academic growth. You will lead structured lessons, facilitate practice sessions, and promote strategic thinking while creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.

• Plan and deliver chess lessons aligned with instructional goals and student skill levels.
• Teach foundational and advanced chess concepts, including strategy, tactics, and sportsmanship.
• Engage students through interactive instruction, guided practice, and game-based learning.
• Assess student progress and adapt instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
• Maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment.
• Support students in developing critical thinking, concentration, and decision-making skills.
• Collaborate with school staff to align chess instruction with broader academic goals.
• Model positive behavior, professionalism, and a growth mindset for students.
• Prepare students for chess activities, matches, or enrichment opportunities as applicable.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Demonstrated proficiency in chess, including knowledge of rules, strategies, and gameplay.
• Experience teaching, coaching, or instructing students in an educational or enrichment setting.
• Strong classroom management and student engagement skills.
• Ability to explain complex concepts in a clear, age-appropriate manner.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
• Ability to plan lessons, track student progress, and adapt instruction as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience teaching chess in a school or structured program.
• Background in education, youth development, or academic enrichment.
• Experience working with diverse student populations.
• Formal chess training, coaching certification, or competitive chess experience.
