The First Grade Teacher role plays a critical part in advancing Zeta Charter Schools’ commitment to high-quality instruction, inclusive classrooms, and student-centered learning.
Role and Responsibilities:
You will serve as a First Grade Teacher, responsible for planning and delivering engaging instruction that supports early literacy, numeracy, and social-emotional development. You will create a structured, inclusive classroom environment while monitoring student progress and adapting instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
- Plan and deliver standards-aligned first grade lessons that promote academic growth and curiosity.
- Create a positive, inclusive classroom culture that supports student engagement and behavior expectations.
- Assess student learning using formative and summative assessments to track progress and inform instruction.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including students with varying academic abilities.
- Collaborate with grade-level teams, instructional coaches, and school leaders to improve teaching practices.
- Communicate regularly with families about student progress, classroom expectations, and learning goals.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, assessments, and student performance.
- Participate in professional development, team meetings, and school-wide initiatives.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field.
- Valid teaching certification or license appropriate for elementary education.
- Experience teaching early elementary or first grade curriculum.
- Strong knowledge of literacy, math, and child development principles.
- Ability to plan, organize, and deliver engaging instruction.
- Effective classroom management and communication skills.
- Proficiency with instructional technology and digital learning tools.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Education or a related field.
- Experience working in a charter school or high-performing school environment.
- Familiarity with data-driven instruction and student assessment practices.
