K12 Classroom Substitute Teacher

Role and Responsibilities:

As a K12 Classroom Substitute Teacher, you will provide instructional coverage during teacher absences while maintaining a structured and supportive classroom environment. You will carry out assigned lesson plans, manage daily classroom activities, and promote a positive learning experience in alignment with school expectations and professional standards.

• Implement lesson plans and instructional activities according to the regular teacher’s guidance.
• Maintain classroom structure by enforcing rules, guiding student behavior, and resolving issues as needed.
• Document and report daily attendance, including absences and any significant classroom occurrences.
• Monitor and supervise students during non-classroom periods such as lunch, recess, and class transitions.
• Submit detailed post-assignment reports outlining completed lessons, student participation, and follow-up concerns.
• Comply with all school policies, procedures, and professional conduct standards.
• Assist students individually by providing clarification, encouragement, and academic support when required.

Required Skills and Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Previous experience working with children in classroom, childcare, or tutoring settings is preferred but not required.
• Ability to maintain effective classroom management and a focused learning environment.
• Clear verbal and written communication skills.
• Adaptability to various school environments, grade levels, and instructional plans.
• Reliability, punctuality, and willingness to accept assignments with minimal notice.
• Strong organizational skills to maintain documentation and complete reports accurately.

Preferred Qualifications:

• College degree or completed coursework related to education.
• At least 30 completed college credits or a valid state-issued substitute teaching permit for non-certified positions.
• Active teaching license or certification for certified substitute teacher roles.
• Experience working with multiple grade levels or in diverse educational environments.
