Role and Responsibilities:

You will provide comprehensive social work services to support the behavioral, emotional, and academic success of students. This role emphasizes counseling, intervention, and family engagement to create meaningful student outcomes.

Provide 1-on-1 and group counseling to students, addressing social, emotional, and behavioral needs.
Facilitate intervention programming to support student growth and learning.
Serve as a member of School-Based Intervention Teams and School Improvement Teams.
Educate parents on intervention strategies and effective support techniques.
Connect families with community mental health resources and support services.
Work with students and families to establish goals for behavioral and academic improvement.
Implement interventions necessary to help students meet established goals.
Maintain professional documentation of services and referrals provided to students and families.
Provide staff development and consultative services on student learning, social/emotional, and behavioral health issues.
Deliver evidence-based services to address students’ emotional, social, and behavioral needs.

Required Skills and Experience:

Master’s degree in Social Work.
MI School Social Worker Certification.
Experience providing counseling and interventions to elementary school students.
Ability to work effectively with both general education and special education students.
Strong communication, collaboration, and documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience serving on school-based intervention or improvement teams.
Knowledge of community mental health resources and referral processes.
Familiarity with evidence-based counseling and intervention strategies for school-aged children.
