About Casa Tutoring: The Center for Academic Success and Achievement (CASA) is dedicated to providing tutoring and supplemental instruction to help you succeed in your academic endeavors at UNM-Taos. Services are provided on a first-come, first-serve basis and are free of charge. Tutoring is provided by trained peer tutors in both small group and individual sessions. Tutors participate in training activities to hone specific skills to better assist students engage and understand the curriculum. Individual learning differences are acknowledged and valued at the CASA.
Peer Tutors will assist students in improving academic achievement by:
Tutoring sessions should include, but not limited to the following: review of class material, discussion of the text, predict test questions and create study aids, and develop critical thinking and problem solving skills. Tutors are not expected to know everything about the subject for which they tutor.
Employment as a tutor does not guarantee a minimum number of work hours. Work hours will be based on program needs.
