Assistant Before and After Care Teacher

Role and Responsibilities:

As an Assistant Before and After Care Teacher, you will support lead teachers in creating a positive, inclusive, and structured learning environment for school-age children. You will help plan and supervise activities that encourage creativity, learning, and social interaction while ensuring a safe and supportive setting.

• Assist in supervising children during before-school and after-school programs.
• Support the implementation of age-appropriate educational and recreational activities.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom or care environment.
• Foster positive behavior, inclusion, and respectful communication among children.
• Help manage daily schedules, transitions, and activity planning.
• Communicate effectively with lead teachers and support staff regarding student needs and progress.
• Ensure compliance with childcare safety standards and organizational policies.

Required Skills and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; coursework in Early Childhood Education preferred.
• Previous experience in childcare, after-school programs, or early education settings is an advantage.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with children and team members.
• Ability to supervise groups of children in a structured and safe manner.
• Understanding of child development principles and positive behavior guidance techniques.
• Basic organizational skills and ability to follow daily schedules and instructions.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field.
• Experience working in licensed childcare or school-age programs.
• CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Familiarity with classroom support tools and early learning frameworks.
