Minuteman High School is looking to hire a Preschool Teacher for our Laboratory Preschool Program. The center operates following Minuteman’s school calendar (end of Aug-mid June) the hours are 8:00 am to 4:15 pm. The teacher will provide a safe and nurturing environment for up to 20 preschool children that encourages their social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development. The teacher will design and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum according to guidelines established by Minuteman High School, EEC standards & regulations, and the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). The teacher will always ensure safety and supervision of children.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- MA Department of Early Education and Care Preschool Teacher Certification required.
- Early childhood working experience required.
- Citizenship, residency or work VISA in United States required.
- First aid/CPR/AED Certified preferred.
- Ability to work as part of a team to foster a positive working relationship with students and staff.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Communicate frequently and directly with each child at the child’s level in a friendly, calm, soft and courteous way. Practice positive guidance techniques in guiding children’s behavior.
- Take every opportunity to extend children’s thinking and actions. Be available and responsive to children’s needs, questions, and requests.
- Encourage and model social behavior and expectations that are developmentally appropriate. Foster positive self-concept by supporting individuality, independence, and the ability to make choices.
- Demonstrate respect for diversity by providing anti-bias, non-sexist language, images, and experiences that reflect both the Center and global communities.
- Plan and implement a daily schedule using the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care Preschool Standards and Guidelines that provides a balance of quiet/active, indoor/outdoor and fine/gross motor activities using children’s interests.
- Assist in children’s daily needs, such as, but not limited to toileting, diapering, eating and rests.
- Create documentation of children’s accomplishments via notes, documentation panels, and/or portfolios. Run conferences with families.
- Provide demonstration teaching as a role model for students in the Early Education and Teaching (EET) training program.
- Assign appropriate projects to EET students and follow up on implementation.
- Work collaboratively as a team with CCA, EET and Minuteman staff.
- Allow EET students who are ready, increased responsibility in planning and implementing projects and circle time activities and provide feedback. Offer EET students input and suggestions for future success.
- Acknowledge parents/guardians and all classroom visitors. Respond to parents/guardians’ comments and concerns with sensitivity, interest, respect and maintain confidentiality.
- Communicate verbally and in writing with parents/guardians daily regarding the development and specific activities of the children in their primary care and facilitate in regular parent/guardian conferences to discuss orientation, transitions, and developmental goals for their child based on appropriate assessment tools (i.e., Developmental Profiles).
- Other duties as assigned by the preschool director.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Equipment Used: Copier, smart board, phone, computer, iPad, Camera, Apps.
- Physical Demands: Most of the time is spent on your feet working with and observing students while they are in the preschool. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
