Role and Responsibilities:

As an After School Explorer Teacher at Primrose School at Edinburgh Commons, you will work with school-age children after school hours to help them explore, learn, and grow through engaging activities. You will foster a positive and safe environment while supervising children and implementing activities aligned with our Balanced Learning® curriculum.

Supervise and actively engage with school-age children during after-school hours, ensuring safety and enjoyment.
Implement and facilitate age-appropriate activities that promote creativity, teamwork, and learning.
Provide clear, consistent expectations and maintain an orderly classroom environment that encourages respect and positive behaviors.
Establish and maintain open communication with parents and guardians about their child’s activities and development.
Assess and address the individual needs of children for a well-rounded, enriching after-school experience.
Safely drive a 13-passenger vehicle for after-school pick-up or drop-off as needed (must be 21 years or older).

Required Skills and Experience:

Genuine passion for teaching and working with school-age children.
Strong verbal and written communication skills for interacting with children, parents, and co-workers.
Ability to manage a classroom and maintain a structured environment that fosters learning, creativity, and emotional growth.
Physical ability to lift up to 35 lbs., engage physically with children, sit on the floor, bend, and stand for extended periods.
Ability to work as part of a collaborative team, supporting co-teachers, staff, and leadership.

Preferred Qualifications:

Degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Child Development, or related field.
Previous experience working with school-age children in an after-school program or daycare setting.
CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
Clean driving record and ability to drive a 13-passenger vehicle.
