Role and Responsibilities:
As a School Counseling Psychologist, you will be responsible for delivering psychological services to support students, families, and school personnel. You will conduct assessments, develop interventions, and collaborate with others to promote a positive learning environment and ensure student progress.
- Conduct psychological assessments to assess students' strengths, needs, and preferred learning approaches.
- Develop and implement tailored intervention plans and behavior management strategies to address students' unique requirements.
- Provide individual and group counseling to help students with emotional, social, and behavioral concerns.
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to create strategies that support students' well-being and academic growth.
- Contribute to IEP (Individualized Education Program) and CSE (Committee on Special Education) meetings, offering expert advice and suggestions.
- Monitor students’ progress, adjust interventions based on assessments, and track measurable results.
- Work closely with interdisciplinary teams to address broader school-wide mental health and behavioral challenges.
- Provide immediate crisis intervention when necessary for students or staff members in urgent situations.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of assessments, interventions, and student progress in accordance with district policies.
- Participate in professional development to stay informed of the latest trends and best practices in school psychology.
Required Skills and Experience:
- A Doctoral or Master's degree in School Psychology or a related field.
- Current certification or licensure as a School Psychologist in the relevant state.
- Experience conducting psychological assessments and providing counseling in an educational context.
- Thorough understanding of special education laws, the IEP process, and effective educational practices.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Proficiency in using relevant software for assessments, documentation, and communication with team members.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in providing crisis intervention and managing behavioral support plans.
- Familiarity with research-based strategies for addressing academic, emotional, and social issues faced by students.
- Experience working within multidisciplinary teams in diverse educational settings.
