Travel Special Education Teacher

Role and Responsibilities:

The Travel Special Education Teacher will provide specialized instruction to students with disabilities across various schools and districts. This position involves working with students of all ages who have a range of learning disabilities, developmental delays, and emotional or behavioral needs.

• Develop and manage individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs and adjust goals as needed.
• Provide direct, specialized instruction tailored to the academic and social-emotional development of students.
• Monitor student progress and regularly update IEPs, communicating with parents, school staff, and administration.
• Implement behavioral interventions and support social interaction and self-regulation skills.
• Collaborate with general education teachers, counselors, and specialists to integrate students into classroom environments.
• Create a structured classroom setting that fosters engagement, learning, and safety.
• Adapt to different school environments and ensure students receive consistent and effective support.
• Travel to schools nationwide on temporary assignments ranging from several weeks to a few months.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education or a related field.
• Valid state certification in Special Education and the ability to obtain necessary certifications for various states.
• Minimum of 1-2 years of experience teaching students with special needs.
• Experience across various educational settings is a plus.
• Strong understanding of special education laws and regulations.
• Ability to design and implement individualized lesson plans.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Patience, empathy, and dedication to student growth and success.
• Willingness to travel and adapt to new teaching environments.

• Experience working in public, charter, or private school settings.
